Interpretation Centre
On-site activity offered from May 7th to October 9th. All year for groups (upon reservation).

Located in the Château Logue, tour our Forest fire interpretation centre and its forest fire observation tower!

For decades, Maniwaki has been recognized worldwide for its expertise in forest fire protection developed by the Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU).

Just a few decades ago, there were over 500 forest fire observation towers in the Québec network, many of them located in the forests surrounding Maniwaki. Nowadays, our Interpretation Centre allows you to visit one such tower which has recently been rebuilt on-site at Château Logue.

2011 Temporary Exhibitions

The Interpretation Centre along with the Maniwaki Sociocultural Committee presents visual art exhibitions annually. Three exhibitions of artists from the region are held.

Veloroute des Draveurs
Access from the hotel.

This bike path will lead you though our vast open spaces and scenic vistas. The Véloroute des Draveurs trail is a part of the Trans Canada Trail, and winds out over 68 km, including a variety of geological sites where flora and fauna are omnipresent. Once you approach the Municipalities of Blue-Sea and Messines, you will be riding along the breathtaking Blue-Sea Lake; many strategic rest-stops are featured along the
way. In the summer, the surface is gravel-dust and the trail is used for snowmobiling in the winter.

Vivez l’expérience du POW WOW !

The organization and conduct of a pow-wow obey strict rules. It is prepared by a committee, to which a particular space is reserved on the day of the festival.

The powwow begins with a procession led by veterans carrying flags. A master of ceremonies gives the starting signal to the various percussion groups that participate in the powwow.

Several dance styles come and go, guests are invited to participate on the occasion of specific dances, called intertribal. The area of dance and the costumes («Regalia») worn by the dancers have a special significance.

Enjoy our wine and cheese tasting, discover new products and have fun with our interactive presentation that will broaden your knowledge of the world of wines.

You will be invited to participate in various games and quizzes such as the Did you know quiz (i.e., Name 5 South American countries that produce wine; What is the largest vine-planted area, etc.), the quizzine (i.e., What dishes are best paired with a given wine?); the true or false quiz (i.e., Is it true that the smell from a flower bouquet, cigarette smoke or even cologne can alter our perception of a wine?); or the expert’s game (i.e., The participants are given a wine-related word sheet and are invited to describe the last wine they tasted using such words as acid, alcoholic, empyreumatic or unctuous. Each word is accompanied by a descriptive explanation to help the participants in their briefing).

(excluding the wines and chesses that will be selected in collaboration with our chef).


Port and chocolate party:
The activity is the same but wine and cheese are replaced by port and chocolate.

 

The 8 Tasks of Asterix
On-site activity

This two-hours team challenge will take you through between 6 to 8 original tasks where brain power, brawn and teamwork are all equally necessary.

Examples:

The centipede: one giant pair of skis, 5 people per pair.

The Field of Gods: in this challenge, participants have to go across a field or parking lot by walking from plank to plank (2 sq.ft. planks) without touching the ground.

The Circle of Olympus: participants are placed inside a hoop and blindfolded and must be guided to the last hoop by another participant.

The Mountain Climber vs. Zeus: participants are tied to a rope with a snap hook and must complete a path through the woods in the shortest possible time.

The mimes: Two people must guest what celebrities are being mimed by the other group members (i.e., Rambo, Rocky, Pamela Anderson, Bill Clinton, etc.) *For adults only.

The Centaur’s Enigma: When tomorrow will be yesterdays and the day after will be…

Athena’s Riddles: Three enigmas (i.e., why do clock hands rotate in that direction?)

The siamese relay: Two persons are tied at the ankles with a rope.

During 90 minutes, logbook in hand, this activity requires that the artist in you as well as the detective in you contribute to this quest, regardless of where you are
